Have a question?
Carisma Scale Adventure today announced the 16466 SCA-1E Aluminium Steering Linkage V2, a precision CNC-machined aluminium steering link for the SCA-1E scale rock crawler. Finished in black anodise and laser-engraved with part number 16466, it is built to tighten steering response and improve accuracy when a rig is asked to place a tyre exactly where the driver points it.
On a rock crawler, the steering link is the last mechanical connection between the servo and the wheels. Flex or play in that link shows up as delayed turn-in, an inconsistent steering angle, and a front end that wanders once the tyres are loaded on a ledge. The 16466 replaces that link with a machined aluminium part that holds its geometry under load, so the steering the driver dials in is the steering the axle delivers.
The link is supplied in a black anodised finish, with the part number 16466 laser-engraved on the arm, and is packed with the required mounting hardware and a fitting diagram. The instruction sheet is marked 16466 SCA-1E Alum Steering Linkage (V2).
A matched pair with 16465
The linkage is designed to be fitted with the 16465 SCA-1E Aluminium Steering Knuckle Set V3. That set uses a CNC aluminium steering hub with carbon-fibre arms, keeps the same geometry as the original plastic hubs, and is specified to work with the new 16466 Alum Steering Link V2. Together, the knuckle set and the linkage form a matched steering package for drivers who want a stiffer, more precise front end on technical rock.
“Steering is where a crawler either commits to the line or second-guesses it. The 16466 link, fitted with the 16465 knuckle set, is the combination we want on a rig that has to put a tyre exactly where it is pointed.”
